THE BEATITUDES Matthew 5:1-12

Christ began the Sermon On the Mount with what we call, "The Beatitudes". The word, "Beatitude" comes from the Latin word, "beatus", which means, "made happy". Our world today is on a mad quest for happiness that it will never find, because it is searching in all the wrong places. In The Beatitudes, the word "blessed" (which means "happy") is found nine times in twelve verses. This says to me that Christ, our Lord, desires our happiness, but he desires it on His terms and not the world's Study begins at 6:30 p.m. on 9/8/08 at Church On the Rock. Hope to see YOU there!!
